Health Surveillance
Complex Exposure Threats Center of Excellence (CETCE)
CETCE conducts health surveillance to identify new health trends and improve care for Veterans, focusing on the long-term effects of military service. By using advanced technology and health informatics, we efficiently monitor health outcomes within our exposure groups. We draw information from VA Electronic Health Records, CIPHER knowledgebase, clinical guidance, and scientific literature to identify health trends among Veterans with complex exposures. CETCE tracks health outcomes like suicidal thoughts and identifies subgroups with similar exposure histories to provide tailored services. Monitoring health records from VA and DoD helps us identify trends and model relationships between exposures, deployment history, and health outcomes, which we share with our multidisciplinary team of clinicians and researchers to deliver Veteran-centered care.
