Mission/Goals

Complex Exposure Threats Center (CETC)

Mission / Goals

The mission of CETC is to serve as the VA’s consultation Center to study and evaluate complex and novel military exposures with poorly defined or unknown pathologies.

Goals:

  • Improve VA’s understanding of health effects that may develop as a result of new technologies and complex environmental hazards.

  • Create the infrastructure to connect VA clinical care with a federal and academic research network of partner institutions. Specialty clinical care is paired with distributed research cores focused on (1) computational modeling and data integration, (2) exposure assessment science and (3) clinical research to address Veteran health concerns related to complex exposure threats.

  • Work closely with the Department of Defense and VA Central Office to identify emerging medical threats and select new exposures to evaluate.
