Complex Exposure Threats Center of Excellence (CETCE)
The evolving nature of warfare in the 21st Century requires a proactive approach to effectively respond to emerging threats and provide the best care and benefits for Veterans.
The Complex Exposure Threats Center of Excellence (CETCE) was established in October 2022 as a sub-center of the Washington, DC War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC), which is a program within VA Health Outcomes Military Exposures (HOME). It was officially designated as a Veteran Health Administration (VHA) Center of Excellence in September 2024.
CETCE's Veteran-centered focuses include:
- Complex exposures with unknown health effects, multiple simultaneous exposures, and exposures with atypical symptoms.
- Emerging health threats such as new environmental health risks, novel technologies, and warfare agents in dynamic military environments may present new, poorly understood, and complex military exposures with unknown health impacts.
